Do you believe that God wants you to live a full life? A fearless life? A life full of joy and peace? Because he does. What if you opened your heart to the reality that God only wants the very best for you? What would happen? Would it change things for you? No, it would change the world. And the world needs changing. Don't you think?
What if we all got up in the morning on a mission to be salt and light? In the most famous TED talk ever given (if TED talks were given on the side of a mountain), Jesus proclaimed that His followers are the salt of the earth and light of the world.
This is our moral code for don’t be a jerk.
Be an inspiration.
Jesus had ideas worth spreading. It’s up to you, me, and like 3+ billion other people to keep it going.
How do you live the salt and light life? One day at a time. Actually, the salt and light life is lived out in micro-moments. A simple smile at a stranger. A listening ear for a friend. The hands that hold the door open. The feet that rush to provide help and healing. The butterfly effects of our seemingly simple efforts influence more people in more places than we realize because love is contagious.
Salt and light moments can be obvious or anonymous. The point is that if you're a Christian, you are called to collaborate with God.
There's nothing more beautiful than living an engaged Christian life. It is equal parts peaceful and playful. It is challenging and surprising. It's like being in on the joke with God. All you have to do is get off autopilot.
Be the salt of the earth. And the light of the world. This is the full-time ministry that every Christian is called to share across every nation and every generation.
Imagine a world where more people lived the salt & light life.
More people preserving what’s good -- at work, at school, at home, at the grocery store. More people adding encouragement, inspiration, and other life-giving flavor to everyday conversations. Imagine more people illuminating the good in others. Now, imagine, it starts with you.
The world grows more chaotic, more impatient, more selfie-serving by the day. Everyone you meet is carrying a burden. Be kind. And try to lift it.
In the words of the great theologian Bob Marley: Let’s light up the darkness.
love is my religion
There are 10,080 minutes in a week. We spend about 60 of them at church (if we go). Living the salt & light life happens in the other 10,020.
God loves you more
Don't go to church. Be the church.
Calling all rebels, sinners, and saints.
Let's collaborate with God.
